Frequently Asked Questions
How does GESY physiotherapy work?
Your doctor or specialist provides a referral for physiotherapy. Bring this to your appointment and GESY covers the treatment. Coverage may be full or partial depending on your plan.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition. Acute issues may resolve in 4-6 sessions, while chronic conditions may require a longer program. We set clear goals and reassess regularly so you know where you stand.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
For GESY: yes, you need a referral from your doctor or specialist. For private sessions: no referral needed — you can book directly and be seen within days.
What should I bring to my first session?
Bring any medical reports, imaging (X-rays, MRI), and your GESY referral if applicable. Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. The first session includes a full assessment.
Can physiotherapy help with chronic conditions?
Yes. Evidence shows physiotherapy is effective for chronic pain, arthritis, and long-term conditions. We use a combination of exercise, manual therapy, and education to help you manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
What techniques do your physiotherapists use?
We use a combination of manual therapy (joint mobilisation, manipulation), exercise-based rehabilitation, dry needling, soft tissue therapy, electrotherapy, taping, and patient education. Your treatment plan is tailored to your condition — we select techniques based on the best available evidence for your specific diagnosis.
How long is each follow-up session?
Follow-up sessions are typically 30–45 minutes. The first assessment is longer at 45–60 minutes to allow for a thorough examination. Session length may vary depending on your condition and treatment plan.
Can I combine physiotherapy with your other services?
Absolutely. Many of our patients combine physiotherapy with clinical Pilates for core strengthening, sports massage for muscle recovery, or performance training for return to sport. Your physiotherapist can recommend the best combination for your goals.
Do you treat workplace and desk-related injuries?
Yes. We regularly treat conditions caused by prolonged sitting, poor posture, and repetitive strain — including neck pain, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tension headaches. Treatment includes hands-on therapy plus ergonomic advice to address the root cause.
What is the difference between GESY and private physiotherapy?
With GESY, you need a doctor's referral and treatment is covered (fully or partially) by the national health system. Private sessions (€35) require no referral — you can book directly and be seen within days. Both options receive the same quality of care and treatment from the same therapists.
Where is your physiotherapy clinic located?
Our clinic is at Tseriou 32, Strovolos, Nicosia. We're centrally located and easy to reach from Engomi, Aglantzia, Latsia, Makedonitissa, and Lakatamia. Street parking is available nearby.
